Sophie St. Clair

ABOUT THIS RIDER

Sophie St. Clair has been riding since the age of 7. She is trained by David Sterckx of Sterckx Stables and competes exclusively in the jumper arena. Sophie has twice been invited to field a Zone 10 team for the U.S. Pony Jumper Finals in Lexington, Kentucky. She has finished 3 years with top 5 placings in the United States Equestrian Federation's Zone 10 Horse of the Year standings in the Low Children’s and Children’s Jumper divisions. In 2013, Sophie competed in the inaugural USHJA West Regional Children’s Jumper Championships in Sacramento on her equine partner Sjapoo. She finished 4th in the Individual Final and as the anchor for CA Team One she delivered her team to a silver medal in the Team Championship. In 2014, she was selected to participate in the United States Hunter Jumper Association's Emerging Athletes Program and she competed in the prestigious Longines Los Angeles Masters.  
Sophie writes the Juniorside column for the national equestrian publication Sidelines Magazine and contributes regularly to Horse & Style Magazine. She is an intern for West Palms Events Management which hosts an exclusive equestrian show circuit that attracts top riders from throughout the United States and around the world. Sophie is a Junior Ambassador for Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and has worked to raise funds and awareness for CHLA and the Southern California based Mustard Seed Ranch. She is an honors student at South Pasadena High School and is interested in the psychology of high performance athletes. Sophie aspires to be a professional grand prix rider but is taking things one jump at a time.
